One to One Nursing Home is a product of a dream that started more than 75 years ago.
It all began with the combined wishes of the 5 Russu brothers- perseverant, hard working men from Bistrita – to become doctors.
Thus, at the rise of the last century, Emil, Iulian, Octavian, Aurel and Constantin graduated Medical Universities in Bucharest, Padova and Gratz.  |
Once they returned home bearing titles and diploma’s earned with hard work, they were all driven by youth’s enthusiasm to channel all their energy in doing what they have learned, serving the people.
Shortly after, other young doctors such as Magda and Grig Angelescu, Ileana Russu entered the run, joining the group and the cause.
They all dreamt of the same thing. To build a nursing home of their time and knowledge, a private location where every patient should receive proper care and attention at the highest standards.

Once the project started, the game plan was set in stone with all the details, the medical equipment was purchased. The team of young enthusiasts was ready, when their dreams were crushed by the heavy curtain of war. They lost their wings; their personal plans were tossed to the side. The project was never finalized, yet the dream never died.
Dr Iulian Gavrila Russu, one of the five brothers, a remarkable man, a pediatric surgeon at the Grigore Alexandrescu Hospital in Bucharest, extended his medical activity at inside his personal cabinet. He became a true family’s doctor for thousands of patients across the country and even across borders. He had the charisma and skill to win the person in front of him, this being a part of his treatment’s success.
A man that loved life and cared for the people, Dr Iulian Gavrila Russu had not forgotten the dream that was set in stone long ago. In the late 50’s he purchased a property outside of Bucharest – Today’s Saftica.
For nearly 50 years, this place has been an area of tranquility and peace for family, friends and artists.
What was once the orchard of a hundred trees, is now the Nursing Home of a hundred beds, surrounded by a park that keeps the mood of times that have passed.
For them not to be lost, values and traditions were passed down to the new generation of doctors, Florin and Lucian Russu.
Having inside knowledge of the family’s history and understanding that at that point, Romania was not the best place for applying new and brave ideas, the brothers immigrated to America in the early 80’s
They both enrolled in the American Army in order to continue their medical education and also enriching their professional experience.
In the following 15 years, today’s doctors, Viorica, Lucian and Florin Russu have continued to learn, to practice and to run different hospitals and Nursing Homes in America. They came in direct contact and learned what individual care in the private sector means.
They lived, learned and worked in a country that has a profound understanding of the word freedom, something a person feels, something that an incredible value to any person made no different by sex, age, medical condition or social position.
We have our list of most important things. Number one on our list will always be our patient and his values. By doing this, the dream of a nursing home came back to life.
The private medical sector was a real challenge.
Starting with a small clinic, we continued with a series of hospital rooms in different state hospitals, which was then joined by a network of private ambulances.
It was the will to take on something new. It was the same will that eventually brought a new standard in the private medical field.
The feedback was sensed soon enough.
The new approach in a medical clinic, the hospital rooms, the ambulance service quickly became a standard that other colleagues from different cities around the country borrowed.

Starting with the need and lack of an important piece in the large puzzle of medical care for senior citizens, a plan was conceived, the concept became reality and thus, we have reached the point where the combined efforts of multiple generations sown over time are finally showing and are ready to reap.
The American concept of nursing homes has been profoundly altered and improved bringing from now on not only American efficiency but European refinement as well.
It is for the first time that the term medical hotel makes way into reality.
During this last century, doctor Russu’s family has been joined by special people which made an impression on what is today the One to One Nursing Home by financial, professional and emotional contributions.

The core team was joined by young doctors filled with optimism and enthuziasm: Patricia Sprancenatu, dr. Clara Petre, Demis Russu RN, each of them dedicating their time and managing skills in the private medical field. |
